    Your privacy matters. Home Chef Aamna is designed to work without requiring you to create an account or share personal information. This policy explains what data is collected and why.
  

1. About This App

Home Chef Aamna ("the App", "we", "our") is an AI-powered recipe generation application that suggests recipes based on the ingredients you have at hand. The App is developed and maintained by an independent developer. By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum data necessary to deliver the App's features.

2.1 Data You Provide

Ingredients you enter to generate recipes (processed server-side; not linked to your identity)
Dietary preferences and cuisine choices you select
Language preference you select within the App

2.2 Data Collected Automatically

Anonymous device identifier: A randomly generated ID stored locally on your device. Used solely to save and retrieve your favourite recipes. It is not linked to your name, email, or any personally identifiable information.
App usage data: Recipe views, search patterns, and feature interactions used to improve the matching engine and reduce unnecessary API calls.
Crash and diagnostic data: Technical information about app crashes or errors, collected to maintain stability.

2.3 Data We Do NOT Collect

Contacts, photos, or files on your device
Biometric data
Payment information

3. How We Use Your Information

To generate and display personalised recipes based on your inputs
To cache recipes and reduce repeated API requests (improving speed and reducing cost)
To save and restore your favourite recipes using your anonymous device ID
To display advertisements through Google AdMob (see Section 5)
To send optional push notifications (e.g., meal reminders) if you grant permission
To improve app performance and fix bugs
To support multi-language translations of recipes

4. Data Storage and Retention

Favourite recipes and preferences are stored locally on your device using encrypted local storage (Hive). Clearing app data or uninstalling the App will remove this data.

Recipe requests and anonymous usage logs are stored on our secure server to power the caching engine. These records do not contain personally identifiable information and are retained for up to 12 months before being purged or anonymised further.

5. Third-Party Services

We integrate with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy.

5.1 Google AdMob

The App displays banner and interstitial advertisements via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device advertising identifiers and usage data to serve personalised or contextual ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising in your device settings:

5.2 OpenAI API

When no cached recipe matches your request, your ingredient list and preferences are sent to OpenAI's API (GPT-4o-mini) to generate a recipe. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests. OpenAI's privacy policy: openai.com/policies/privacy-policy

5.3 Google Translate API

Recipe content may be translated using Google's Cloud Translation API to support 26 languages. Only recipe text (not user identifiers) is sent for translation. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

6. Push Notifications

The App may request permission to send push notifications (e.g., meal reminders). This permission is entirely optional. You can withdraw it at any time in your device's notification settings. We do not use notifications to send marketing messages from third parties.

7. Children's Privacy

Home Chef Aamna is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has provided data through the App, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit and access controls on our servers. While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Know what data is held about your anonymous device ID
Request deletion of any server-side data associated with your device ID
Opt out of personalised advertising (via device settings)
Revoke notification permissions at any time
